Day 86

March 27, 2010  //  Posted by: admin  //  Category: Coming to a Home near You (DVD), Movies, Sports, TV

It’s been a while I know I was going to do better this year than last but I will admit it I got a little distracted. Yes I have procrastination issues with keeping up this thing. My last post came from the hospital and since being back I have been a little distracted. Sorry that this happens but life does not make it to this blog usually and my movie intake has been a little slow.

Planet 51, Hachi, New Moon and right now I am watching Armored. So yeah I have been watching dvd’s and repeats but nothing really NEW. Bad me I know. Percy Jackson and the Lighting Thief yeah. But nothing that I consider grown up or adult that I have been wanting to see.

I want to see Chloe this week it finally came out.

and now of course I want to see this:

I will go in the upcoming week.

I want to talk about Big Ben, The Steelers, and the Rape investigation? I am so torn on him now this does not bode well for him, not only in my eyes but the eyes of the American public. He is my Steelers QB but can I watch him again? Can I wear his Jersey? Does that make me supporter of Rape? I am not nor will I be but can I support my QB again?

I will be writing intermittently for a bit I have something to do. Well figure out something anyway. So please excuse absence and forgive me. And keep going to the movies in the mean time.

Best Wishes Everybody,

M

From the hospital

Grams is again going in for another operation gallbladder this time.

My bros kids are off this week from school for winter recess and after doing my daily responsibilites I took my niece to see Percey Jackson and the lighting thief.

So I don’t think this is an average movie for kids. As I was once a fan of Xena Warrior Princess, and I like watching Clash Of The Gods on History Channel and enjoyed my Greek Mythology Classes in college I was quiet familiar with characters that were portrayed. Certain aspects were off, Zues doesn’t let the gods see their kids well then where is Hercules and mention of that relationship?

They also showed Ares children (listed in the credits) but I have no idea who they were. As the God of War I suspect he would have played a bigger role as well in the plot.

Athena’s kid plays the love interest and the actress who plays her fine so no complaints there. I would have liked more history into whom the gods were for the viewers whom are unfamilar with the players.

Special fx were great in some regards and lacked in the others. Medusa aka Uma Thurman was fanomial I can comment on many things but let’s talk about her snakes for hair. wow the cgi was spot on and how her eyes glowed awesome.

So if you have an older child who’ll hang out with you I say go check out this film. If you have a kid whose into action flicks or books this is okay too. But I wouldn’t be taking my youngest nephew to come see this. And he claim he like xmen and avatar last air bender but we aren’t going to see this one anytime soon.

So I haven’t posted in a while but been a little busy with life…east coast has been snowed in and some other things have occurred.

My niece is now starting the series (reading) so that was a great thing that came put of this.

I will be posting shortly again…sorry life gets in the way and keeps me from posting after this week I hope I can improve to keep writing to you.

Day 23 – Sorry Again

January 23, 2010  //  Posted by: admin  //  Category: Uncategorized

Hey I was unable to write the past couple of days and there was really nothing all that pressing for me really type about. You can find plenty of recaps of Greys, Fringe, Vampire Diaries, The Mentalist and whatever else is out there. But did you catch Spartacus Blood and Sand on Starz?

Lucy Lawless has a part, you might remember her as the Warrior Princess, where she plays the wife to the owner of Gladiators. I think her part will grow but that is just a side note. So this is mature tv…there was a lot of nudity, sex, blood, body piercings, fighting, and much more. This show was loaded up with the good stuff – if you like Frank Miller’s 300 with G. Butler and Lena Heady then OMG your going to love this.

At first I thought it was a little slow but when I realized it was giving the whole story and the paced picked up and realized it was the telling of Spartacus back story it was done really well. I was like Damn this is good…I was upset to see it end. The writing was a little ominous with the fore-telling of the red-serpent, maybe if it was either worded with snake or serpent then I might have appreciated it a little more, sometimes I do not want obvious, subtle works better. When they said red and right there in the next scene the Romans come marching in with their RED Banners, Capes and anything else I was like….well la-di-da.

So for the Pilot great job, I look forward to my dvr recording this series on a weekly basis.

Okay up next a review of the DVD Gamer and my next upcoming horror pick trailer.

Till then.

Day 19 – Casinos

January 19, 2010  //  Posted by: admin  //  Category: Gambling, Long Island Casino

Sometime last year I wrote about the Shinnecock Indians and a possible casino. In December of 09 NYRA asked the State gov for more money to fix Belmont and other racetracks. Meanwhile last year they were granted 30 million dollar bailout to fix and make corrections.

Miss management of funds is now being questioned as the state comptroller has requested, then they were denied, and finally this week granted access to NYRA’s books. Reports are saying that it is possible that no third leg of the triple crown because they “ran out of money.”

Now as I think of this is as a possibly because the Shinnecock Indians want to build a casino there? Will this new revelation lighten the red tape for Shinnecock for a Class 3 casino? (Class 3 is Slots and Table Games) The timing of this revelation is a little too coincidental. I am not saying this is a conspiracy either but I am saying this is coming to light now.

NYRA is doing something good with the loot…they are donating $5000 to American Red Cross for Haiti relief but where is the rest of the money?

So now I have to ask Will we be getting a full blown resort? I know it won’t be built until later in the decade ok 2012 or 2013 but we can hope to later.

I also read an article in NYT, In Sour Economy, Biggest Gambler at Foxwoods Is the Casino Itself, they tell of how much debt they are in, firing 700 people, and how traffic will slow if casinos in NY and Mass open up. What are we doing people? I do gamble but I want it reserved for special occasions like when I go to Vegas or have a function in AC not a couple of miles from my house. Doesn’t help with online gambling coming to a home near you either.

I believe crime will go up…that is already not the nicest area to hang around in and traffic will sky rocket. For those of us who reside in the area we know what it’s like at Belmont Stakes time think of this year round. I guess we’ll just have to watch and see.
